A most peculiar relationship

She steps out into the cold, still fumbling with her coat and adjusting her scarf.
The wind messes her hair up and turns her cheeks pink.
Then she sees him standing at the gate and her big eyes widen even more.
That warm fuzzy feeling comes up as they hug
and meaningfully stare into each others amazing eyes,
before they start walking to the bus stop.
“I didn’t know you were picking me up.”
she says while admiring his curls.
“I wanted to surprise you and by the way, you look great today!” he replies.
“You don’t look too bad yourself!”
They smile at each other as they get onto the just arriving bus and as it sets off,
she falls back the stairs she is climbing, but he catches her and pushes her back up.

“So, what shops are we heading for?”  he asks as the bus drives along O’Connels Street.
“Oh, I was thinking Topshop and Jack Wills
and we need to pop into hmv to get a DVD for tonight!”
she says enthusiastically.
“Right! What about that new Sherlock Holmes?”
 “Sounds great!”

“I saw you leave the party with that blond girl last night.”
she shouts over the cream curtain while trying on some items at Jack Wills.
“Yeah, she’s pretty great!” he replies.
“Does that mean your endless circle of being single will finally come to an end?”
she gasps cheerfully.
“Maybe, I don’t know, I was thinking of going out with her a few more times before I deci-”
he brakes off as she steps out of the changing room.
She is wearing a tweed jacket that fits her perfectly over a red jumper,
a patterned blouse and a pair of riding trousers, that unfold her full beauty.
‘She looks beautiful’ he thought.
“How do I look?” she asks skeptically while slowly twirling around.
“You look...stunning!” he replies, lost for words.
The big smile that spreads over her face slowly melts him inside.
“Now we need to find something for you!” she says. “Come on!”
she adds as he doesn’t follow her, still struck in the brown leather armchair.
"That brown haired guy you were flirting with last night would probably love to see you in that!"
he shouts as he follows her.
"I don't know, even if he would, he seemed more like Chuck Bass, you know?"
she replies with a wink.

“Oh, I’m so tired, let’s get a taxi home” she groans as they leave Topshop
with a load of shopping bags.
“Give me that!” he grabs her shopping bags while hauling a taxi.
“So, where can I get you two lovebirds to?” the driver asks cheerfully
after they thrust themselves into the taxi.
The two stare at each other wide eyed and then they both snap into a perfect roleplay.
“Oh, my fiancĂ©e and I were just pre-wedding shopping and we’re exhausted!”
she tells the driver.
“Yes, that’s why we’re missing out on the champagne at the Shelbourne
and head straight home, that’s Nutley Road number five.” he joins into the play.
“Alrighty” the driver answers confused and drives off.
“You see this ruby ring? My sweetheart here gave it to me,
our parents think it’s a birthday present, but actually it’s an engagement ring.”
she continues fooling the driver.
“Oh, you are a sweetheart, you cutie!” “No, you are” “No you are!” "No you a-"
“So, your parents are against you two marrying?”
the driver interrupts the pretend love chatter.
“Yeah, they think we’re too young. Although we do love each other a lot!”
he explains to the driver.
“They just don’t understand!” she adds dramatically.
“I bloody wouldn’t let you two get married either” the driver mumbles.
“That’s why we’re waiting until we’re both eighteen, so we can legally get married.”
she continues telling the driver their story.
“It’s only three months away!” he adds.
“We’re so excited!” she speaks for both of them.
They look at each other lovingly, trying not to laugh.
“Here we are!” the driver shouts, interrupting the romantic moment.
“Oh” she says, cramming for her purse in her untidy bag,
but he stops her. “I’ll get it!” he says and she smiles at him
while he pushes her and all of their shopping out of the taxi onto the boardwalk.

“That was fun wasn’t it?” he says and they both break into laughter.
“I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun!”
she laughs as she let’s them into the cosy warmth of her home.
They put off their shoes and coats and he takes her coat to hang it up beside his,
while she brings the shopping bags upstairs.
As she comes back down, he’s already awaiting her with a cup of tea
sitting on the coffee table that stands beside the sofa he’s laying on.
She smiles as she goes over to him and places herself beside him.
There they lay for a while, taking in each others scent and warmth.
 “I love you, sis”
 “I love you too, bro”
and they hold each other even tighter.
